After the pandemic, many of us have witnessed the volatile nature of our seemingly “permanent” day jobs. Amid the crisis of downsizing and layoffs, it’s now more important than ever to have multiple income streams to attain financial security.
1. Paint Jobs and Repairs

A production manager at an Auto Body Shop lost their job when the owner closed it without giving employees a heads-up. They filed for unemployment a few months before COVID-19 and realized they had to take matters into their own hands.
“I rented a small warehouse and started offering paint jobs and repairs. The first year, I made more money than my full time that I had previously. I make about 80k a year take home now after expenses, taxes, etc.,” they share.

Though they are just getting used to it and need to work out budgets, taxes, etc., they make between $2500 and $4000 a month.

In one story, someone got laid off during downsizing and decided to go full-time on their project while not quite making back the paycheck. “Crossed my old wage in under a year. Hit a ceiling eventually and went to work on other things. Still, get a check every month.”

For more creative folks, Etsy is a wonderful platform. You can earn passive income by making your designs and selling them on an Etsy shop. The investment isn’t a lot, and depending on your success, you can choose to expand your project into a business.
